To send and receive USDT, you’ll need the address of the receiving wallet and what network it is using. But first, what are Addresses? What are networks, and how to know which one to choose?
Your wallet address is a unique string of numbers and letters (also called a public key) that people can use to send you cryptocurrency, which is used on the blockchain to verify transactions. It can also be thought of as the crypto version of your bank account number.
What is a USDT Wallet?
A Tether USDT wallet is a piece of software that stores the public and/or private keys for USDT transactions; it provides the tools needed to interact with the blockchain, without which you cannot receive cryptocurrencies.
Wallets allow you to view balances on addresses and transfer funds on the blockchain and can be considered the crypto version of a bank account. The main difference is that your account number is public and is directly linked to your identity, with a conventional bank account but your transaction history is private. With crypto wallets, your transactions are public, as well as your account number (public key), but there's no way to link a particular address to you.
Now when making a USDT transfer, many users are presented with a choice of three different chain types available, at which point users may face the situation that they don't know which chain type to choose when depositing and withdrawing. The differences between the three different chain types are described in detail. Please refer to the table below.
Note: Since the USDT in the three networks is not interoperable, users should carefully check if the address is correct when depositing and withdrawing. To avoid unnecessary losses due to wrong addresses, special attention should be paid to the different address styles of the three types of chains.
Other versions of USDT address
1: USDT(AVAXCHAIN) issued on Avalanche-C chain, the deposit address is the Avax address, and the deposit and withdrawal go through avalanche network;
2: USDT (ALGO), launched in February 2020, the deposit address is the Algorand address, and the deposit and withdrawal of USDT go through the Algorand network;
3: USDT (SOL) issued on Solana blockchain, the deposit address is the Solana address, and the deposit and withdrawal go through the Solana network; Launched in September 2020;
Final words: there is no difference between various types of USDT in the exchange, but they are not interconnected in the chain. In other words, the USDT on Omni cannot be transferred to another chain, so be sure to pay attention to the address type when depositing the USDT.
